Blasting Zone

I remember lying down
in the backseat of my mother's car,
pretending it was a spaceship
and home was some far-away star.
Now I'm driving my own car home,
wondering where we are,
And it doesn't seem like a star at all,
but it sure as hell seems far.

And I just passed through a blasting zone,
but I didn't feel a thing.
I have a hard time feeling anymore,
and that's something you did to me,
that's something you did to me.

I took that curve a little too fast,
and sped right through that last light.
I've been careless with everything I've cared about,
I've been careless with this life.
And I bet you're driving too right now,
Going someplace we used to go,
And when they ask what's on my mind,
I say, just someone I used to know.

And I just passed through a blasting zone,
but I didn't feel a thing.
I have a hard time feeling anymore,
and that's something you did to me,
that's something you did to me.
